Under the "New Engineering" background, how to teach higher mathematics courses and compile textbooks? On the morning of April 9, our university held a "Seminar on Teaching and Textbook Construction of Higher Mathematics Courses in the "New Engineering" Background", and carried out in-depth exchanges in this regard. More than 30 experts from more than 10 institutions, including Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Tongji University, East China University of Science and Technology, Donghua University, Nanjing Normal University, University of Shanghai for Science and Technology, Jiangsu University of Science and Technology, Shanghai Normal University, Shanghai Maritime University, Shanghai Institute of Technology and Higher Education Press attended the meeting. Wu Guangming, deputy Party secretary of the university, and Lin Jin'an, deputy editor in chief of the Higher Education Press attended and delivered speeches respectively.
Wu Guangming said that the "New Engineering" in the new era is faced with many new tasks. As the basis of the foundation, how to better adapt mathematics to the requirements of the new era is an important issue for us. He introduced the development history of Tongji, the "Trinity" talent training model and the new era Tongji culture of "Tongji for the world, advocating science, leading innovation and pursuing excellence". He said that in recent years, Tongji, taking high moral values establishment and people cultivation as the fundamental task of education, has carried out a series of talent training reforms, starting with the establishment of Freshmen Academy. Under the background of "new engineering", innovation and intercrossing of subjects are particularly important. The fundamental purpose of the school to continuously deepen the education and teaching reform is to cultivate more and better graduates, which also requires the joint efforts of experts from higher mathematics education and publishing experts, including all of us. Under the background of "New Engineering", how to better give full play to our higher mathematics textbooks, and how can we make students willing to learn, and with high efficiency and interest? How to integrate curriculum ideology and politics into textbooks, how to better integrate textbooks with contemporary information technology, and how to better cross disciplines? These challenges require the joint efforts and suggestions of all of our experts.
Li Zhonghua, from College of Mathematics Science of our university, delivered a speech on the topic of "Higher Mathematics Curriculum Reform under the Background of" New Engineering ". He introduced the development history of Tongji's higher mathematics, the construction of courses and textbooks, team building, etc., and described in detail the teaching reform in recent years.
At the meeting, a book giving ceremony was held for the Collector's Edition of the series of textbooks of Advanced Mathematics of Tongji University.
Experts from Universities in Shanghai and Jiangsu and experts from Higher Education Press have conducted in-depth discussions on topics related to better adapting higher mathematics to the requirements of the new era and topics on textbook publishing. Qiu Bozou, Lejingliang, Guo Jingming and other well-known experts in engineering mathematics participated in the discussion. Experts believe that under the background of "New Engineering", during teaching, more attention should be paid to the application of higher mathematics, and the content of mathematical modeling could be integrated, to help students understand teaching difficulties, learn to solve practical problems with mathematical methods, and further enhance learning interest and motivation; We should integrate the ideological and political education into the curriculum, attach importance to the guidance of mathematical methods and mathematical thoughts, cultivate rigorous scientific spirit and dialectical thinking, and help students complete the transformation of learning way from middle school learning to university learning; We should adapt to the transformation of modern learning methods, develop high-quality digital resources, expand and extend teaching content, and give full play to students' independent learning ability. Experts attending the meeting said that Tongji version of Advanced Mathematics is the "Evergreen" in the college mathematics textbooks and the classic in the national engineering mathematics field.
