In the afternoon of December 7, the award ceremony for the final of the 2020 "Huangpu Cup" SAS China University Data Analysis Contest hosted by SAS China was held in the Yuzhu Hall of the Conference Center of Guangzhou Science City. Peng Renfeng, Zhang Siyuan and Zhang Qiang, undergraduates from the College of Mathematical Sciences of Tongji University, won the second place in the country (this is the best result obtained among all undergraduate groups, undergraduates and postgraduates competed together), and two teams entered the top 20 (ranked 15 and 18 respectively), three teams entered the top 30 (ranking 21, 24 and 27 respectively), and one team entered the top 100. This competition is also the SAS competition with the largest number of top 30 teams from our university in the history.

SAS China University Data Analysis Contest, founded in 2013, is a non-profit public benefit competition launched by SAS China specifically for data analysis related majors in Chinese universities. It aims to promote the development of education in the field of data science in China, cultivate the next generation of analytical talents, and improve students' application level of SAS software, so as to make Chinese universities in line with international standards in the field of data modeling. Up to 2019, more than 13000 students from different regions have participated in the competition. SAS China University Data Analysis Competition has become the SAS competition with the largest number of participants in the Asia Pacific region.

The China University SAS Data Analysis Competition has been held for many years and has become a top event in the field of data analysis. In this competition, there are more than 800 teams of undergraduates and postgraduates from colleges and universities across the country. Peking University, University of Science and Technology of China, Fudan University, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Zhejiang University, etc. have all sent strong teams to participate in the competition. Their SAS application ability represents the highest level in China. The competition was divided into two stages: the preliminary (each region) and the final (Guangzhou). Seven teams from the College of Mathematics Science of Tongji University, under the guidance of Professor Qian Zhijian, overcome all the difficulties in the way and reach the Guangzhou final with absolute strength and achieved good results.

The College of Mathematical Sciences of Tongji University has made good achievements in previous SAS data analysis competitions, and won the national championship of 2018 China University SAS Data Analysis Competition of "Shanghai Pudong Development Bank Credit Card Cup", and the seventh place in 2019 China University SAS Data Analysis Competition of Yangzijiang New Financial Cup.
